PASA - Pastel Artists of South Australia

Workshopping with Roe Gartelmann

A drive past vineyards and olive groves leads seven of us to Roe’s house and gallery in Willunga for a two day weekend workshop in Basic Pastels.  It was exercises to expand our minds before wandering around the rambling property to a paint huge gum trees, a wooden bridge over a dry creek, naked vines and bushy olive trees or an abandoned water tank.  Then the  critique – tips and techniques to improve our efforts.  Too much to learn so Roe has added another two day class in October.

Meanwhile, as part of SALA, visitors wandered around the house to view over 50 of Roe’s paintings in all mediums – and some even registered their interest in joining future classes: two more this year and three in early 2017.

Roe will also be leading a mini workshop at next month’s PASA meeting at Marion.
